Mission
The mission of Cuidado Casero Health Training Center (CCHTC) is to prepare early career students to transition into a second career through full-time study with an innovative curriculum while offering unique educational oppurtunities for effective nursing and health care practices in Texas.
History
This school was founded on the belief that there is a growing need for health care professionals in general. The nurse aide program is an excellent program to begin a career in healthcare. The school director and staff believe that through education we can help many in need.
Dr. Santiago has received accolades and awards to include the Ana Maria Arias Business Award presented by LATINA STYLES, in Washington D.C. and United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Business Woman of the Year (2007) presented by Wells Fargo organizations. She consults regularly with executives from a variety of fields to help create and implement future visions.Dr. Santiago received her Doctorate degree in Public Health from the University of North Texas in 2005. She also received her Masters of Science from Amberton University, and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in Puerto-Rico. Dr. Santiago has been in the healthcare industry over 30 years. She has developed a passion to educate and empower both healthcare professionals as well as patients. She has presented at various levels including local, state, and national audiences
Programs
Certified Nurse Aide – CNA
Nurse Aides work in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and doctor’s office as valuable members of the health care team. Our program is designed by nurses and health care professionals with years of clinical experience, as result we offer our students a diverse comprehensive Nurse Aide education. After completing our classes and comprehensive final exam, students will receive their Nurse Aide Certification . ** Approved by Texas Workforce Commision**
Entrance Requirements:
Students must possess a High School Diploma or a General Education Development Certificate (G.E.D.)
The minimum educational requirement for enrollment is the Ability to Benefit which is defined as:
1. Ninth (9th) grade reading and math level as measured by an examination approved by the US Department of Education.
2. An interview with the admissions officer to review the test scores and discuss any prerequisites needed for enrollment.
3. Students shall not be allowed to transfer hours from previous education facilities to this course. All 75 credit hours must be completed at this center to be qualified for the Certificate of Nurse Aide.
4. Additional DADS requirement
5. Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) that the student cannot be listed as unemployable on the Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR) and cannot have been convicted of criminal offense as listed in Texas Health and Safety Code 250.006.
